"Wherefore We must interrupt a silence which it would be criminal to prolong, that We may point out...as they really are, men who are badly disguised." Pope St. Pius X, September 8, 1907, Pascendi Dominici Gregis

As 2017 Begins, US on Verge of Nuclear War with Russia

For anyone familiar with the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima, current affairs could not provide a more ominous backdrop to the centennial of this most renowned religious event of the previous century. In 1917 three shepherd children in the Portuguese hinterland revealed to the world with startling accuracy that World War II was coming and that Russia would be overtaken by a gruesome ideology and attempt to spread it all over the world. A "third secret" that remains occulted to this very day was also revealed to these children accompanied by a miracle of the sun, reported by over 50,000 witnesses among them unbelievers and Masonic journalists (akin to our CNN of today).

With the Pope of the Catholic Church sounding more like Obama's Press Secretary than the leader of one of the most rigorous religious traditions in the world, and a cabal of child-abusing politicians led by an evil billionaire attempting to block the very results of an election in the United States mere months ago they were demanding the now victorious opposition candidate unconditionally accept, you'd be forgiven by even the most extreme atheist for indulging in a little religious speculation. It may simply be par for the course that the very country that is being blamed for the undesired election result and with which the current administration has been trying to start a war, first in Ukraine, then in Syria and Turkey and most desperately in the last week as the US expels its personnel, Russia, is the very country the Lady at Fatima told the children must be consecrated by the Pope together with all the Bishops in the world in order to avoid very dire consequences - a request that remains unfulfilled.

Need we mention that what little is known about the untold third secret revealed by the Lady includes an unusual remark about a "bishop in white"? There have never been any Catholic bishops in white, as this color was reserved for the holder of highest office, the Pope. The reference to a 'bishop in white' remained nearly inexplicable to Catholic ears, that is, until the unprecedented resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, who as Bishop Emeritus of Rome, continues to this day to wear the papal white of his former office.
Image result for lightning vatican
Lightening strikes the Vatican the same day as Benedict XVI announces his resignation, the first Pope to do so since the Middle Ages.

Oh, but we are only just getting started! No true prophecy is without its signs in the sky. To wit, as explained by John Hagee, in 2015 the world has just witnessed the fourth set of four blood moons with an intervening solar eclipse all occurring on Jewish high holy days within the last 500 years, fulfilling the very words of Revelation 6:12 "the sun became black as sackcloth of hair and the whole moon became as blood." Mr. Hagee asserts this is significant for the state of Israel and certainly in the past week we have seen the US, perhaps its strongest ally, unexpectedly abandon Israel.

What may be more foreboding though are the words of Fr. Malachi Martin, longtime Vatican insider, advisor to high-ranking Cardinal Bea, and one of the few who supposedly have seen in full the third secret of Fatima. In 1997 during an interview given to Bernard Janzen, Fr. Malachi warned listeners to look to the skies, especially in the spring of that year. It just so happens that the last time a set of four blood moons all occurring on Jewish high holy days with an intervening solar eclipse could have culminated was in 1996 to 1997, if not for the fact that the fourth and final blood moon expected in Spring of 1997 was only partial. In the time following that spring with no fourth full blood moon materializing, Fr. Martin admitted, "That means it won't happen for a while yet; we have a little more time."

What, exactly, did we have a little more time before? What dire consequences are to follow from Russia not being consecrated by the leaders of the Catholic Church as the Lady requested? These may be the gravest words of all spoken by Fr. Martin, sworn by oath not to reveal the specifics of the third secret.
“A physical chastisement of the nations, involving catastrophes, man-made or natural, on land, on water and in the atmosphere of the globe. A spiritual chastisement ... [consisting] of the disappearance of religious belief, a period of widespread unfaith in many countries. A central function of Russia in the two preceding series of events. In fact, the physical and spiritual chastisements, according to Lucia’s letter, are to be gridded on a fateful timetable in which Russia is the ratchet.”

Here, Lucia refers to the most prominent of the three shepherd children at Fatima. For many of the secular mind, the changes that hit the Catholic Church in the wake of the 1960s, a time when Our Lady ordered that the third secret be released by the Vatican because its meaning would be clearer, may be only a historical footnote. Of more relevance, perhaps, was that these changes came just as Soviet Russia, at the height of her power, was spreading atheistic, materialistic communism all over the globe and the nuclear arms race was heating up.

Today, though, the roles are reversed. If there is any country that openly defends Christian, albeit it Orthodox, social policy it is Russia. The West meanwhile is in full cultural decline and religious practice may in fact be at an all time low. It is not an exaggeration to say in France today there are more practicing traditional Muslims than Catholics.

And so, one should take more seriously the recent attempts of the Obama administration, in its final throws, to heat up tensions with Russia as we enter the year of the 100th anniversary of the apparition at Fatima. All of this religious speculation has so far proven true. Must we witness the final chapter in which Russia leads the world into a brutal chastisement? Or will the world turn back from the brink and towards its God? You must answer this question personally...     while there is still time.

Trump Must Undo Takeover of US Media

Late on Friday, with the US population embracing the upcoming holidays and oblivious of most news emerging from the administration, Obama quietly signed into law the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which authorizes $611 billion for the military in 2017.

H.R. 5181 also tasks the Secretary of State with coordinating the Secretary of Defense, the Director of National Intelligence, and the Broadcasting Board of Governors to “establish a Center for Information Analysis and Response,” which will pinpoint sources of disinformation, analyze data, and — in true dystopic manner — ‘develop and disseminate’ “fact-based narratives” to counter effrontery propaganda.

This one further step towards ensuring that your only source of information is the mainstream media. Undoing this must be part of Donald Trump's first 100 days.

PETITION: Defend Independent Media From ‘Fake News’ Attacks

Ask President-elect Donald Trump to take a stand against the establishment's desperate move to label independent media as ‘fake news’.

This is a red level emergency.

Infowars, Breitbart, the Drudge Report and other independent sources are destroying the mainstream media narrative like never before, and the establishment is getting desperate.

In an effort to try and censor the liberty movement and free speech, the mainstream media is now attempting to label legitimate news sources like Infowars as "fake news" to push towards a government-led shut down of Infowars.com.

The Washington Post has even gone as far as to label sites like Infowars as "Russian propaganda fake news" web sites, exemplifying the last attempt of a dying media conglomerate to force out any and all dissenting voices.

Even more concerning, the United States House of Representatives quietly passed legislation targeting 'Russian propaganda' websites.

But the calls for censorship do not end with the United States.

The European Union is demanding that Twitter, YouTube and Facebook censor “illegal hate speech” within 24 hours and content that includes so-called “fake news,” a term so broad that it includes perfectly legitimate news content.

Microsoft, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter have also announced that they will be ramping up efforts to remove "extremist" content from their websites by using a shared database of offenders.
And perhaps most importantly, Twitter has recently gone on record stating the company will ban President-Elect Donald J. Trump's Twitter account if he were to violate the company's "hate speech" rules.

We are calling on and asking President-Elect Donald J. Trump to take a stand against the establishment media's "fake news" attacks and to stop the impending censorship of independent media platforms like Infowars.com and others.

"Rome Has Lost the Faith" THAT MEANS Rome is not Catholic anymore.

"Pope warns media over 'sin' of spreading fake news, smearing politicians"

"Media that focus on scandals and spread fake news to smear politicians risk becoming like people who have a morbid fascination with excrement, Pope Francis said in an interview published on Wednesday.
Francis told the Belgian Catholic weekly "Tertio" that spreading disinformation was "probably the greatest damage that the media can do" and using communications for this rather than to educate the public amounted to a sin."

Only a wolf in sheep's clothing can so subtlety suggest that the little truth we have access to today is "fake" and those that struggle to bring it to us have anything but the best of intentions. Our Lady warned us of these times.

France Passes Crackdown on Pro-Life Websites

Online anti-abortion activists targeted for stiff penalties

France’s socialist government is attempting to crack down on pro-life activists by criminalizing online advocacy at odds with the nation’s abortion regime.
On Thursday, the French National Assembly passed a bill that makes it a crime to post information online that challenges abortion. Pro-life activists who continue to operate online face up to two years in prison and a fine of more than $30,000. The bill is an expansion of a 1993 law that penalized giving out “false information” or physically blocking those seeking abortion from entering clinics. The bill passed by French lawmakers will punish web operators who post material considered “deliberately misleading, intimidating and/or exerting psychological or moral pressure.”

Google Lies

It may be very difficult to boycott Google entirely, though using alternative search methods like Startpage.com is, well, a start.

Every time I find myself using google, especially if I notice a particularly biased news piece, I will enter the search term "Google lies" into their own search engine. Because Google catalogues the search terms using on their site, it serves as a nice reminder that we know what they are doing.

If you are not familiar with the censorship and manipulation that Google engages in, below you will find just one of many news articles that provide detail.

Yes, Google is a private company that should be free to provide any kind of search results they want. The idea that Google is completely free to do whatever it wants in a world where one bureaucratic ruling can mean the difference between profitability and failure is not fully realistic. And we have a responsibility to build alternative systems to Google in response. But I am also free to remind Google that I know it lies and wants to lie.

Google Removes “Fake News” That Black People “Commit More Crimes”

FBI stats show black people do actually commit more crimes

Under the guise of tackling “fake news,” Google is removing search results that pertain to crime statistics that show black people commit more crimes, despite the fact that this is widely documented to be true.

In Real Capitalism, Can Robots Replace Half the Human Workforce?

An Infowars article, copied below, indicates that a Banking executive warns 'robots could replace half of the British workforce' over the coming years, 'mercilessly hollowing out the working class.' This raises a number of alarming questions, most notably whether most of the human population will continue to economically sustain itself in the future.

Aside from concerns that certain elites have been planning to eliminate up to 95% of the human population or even more, there are two likely paths that a future where robots dominate the manufacturing process would lead humanity.

The pessimist scenario, where the current systems of control remain in place and are strengthened, continues to pop into mainstream consciousness in the form of a "guaranteed income." Specifically, the Swiss people recently rejected a referendum that would have guaranteed every Swiss person a minimum annual income, regardless of work. This will continue to undermine the structure of civilization, as women would be enabled to birth children without the rigor of a father-figure. Children that are instead raised by daddy-state, who will raise them without intellectual curiosity in areas that would undermine the elite's power. Also, men would be deprived of the stimulus of hard-work and the wimp culture of constant video-game playing and weed smoking would come to dominate all of society.

The optimist alternative is that the current working classes, will be enabled with large tax cuts and an elimination of the federal reserve inflation scheme, to accumulate their own capital. Instead of their paycheck going entirely to life-sustenance, a truly moral capitalist system, would allow workers to gradually save and become owners of the very automated manufacturing systems that will eventually replace them. This is a very different outcome than in the previous scenario, because while a grant from the government requires no effort, managing a portfolio of investments requires certain continual application of skill. And there will continue to be a disincentive to be lazy.

This accumulation of capital is theoretically possible even under our current Federal Reserve system, but it is rendered inaccessible for most of the working class because the boom-bust cycle leads to repeated rounds of mass bankruptcies. Those with connections that allow them to obtain cheap Federal Reserve money can just declare bankruptcy, receive the new money and move on. Those who have built a portfolio with sweat-equity are wiped out, with no ability to regain what they lost unless they rebuild it through hard-work. Also, even in good times, the best investments are bought up from those with sweat-equity, who tend to be smaller percentage owners, who are forced to sell to those with access to cheap Federal Reserve financing, even though we would rather retain ownership of a very productive asset.

This happened to me recently with my ownership in a Canadian ATM company, DirectCash Payments, which trades in the US under the symbol DCTFF. This is a cash-flow heavy company that paid out a steady and relatively reliable 9% dividend payable, with which it would have been possible for me to retire. But no, along comes ATM giant Cardtronics, with their ability to borrow at artificially low rates, buying up my investment from me at what for them is an attractively low price given their ability to finance it. While for me, it is necessary to hang on to such investments so I can become financially independent.

Yes, as long as there is an unjust Federal Reserve system, the working class will have to fear automation because their means of financial independence are not guaranteed by our laws. Under real capitalism, we having nothing to fear from automation and everything to gain.

Bank Chief Warns ‘Robots Could Replace Half of British Workforce’

Machine age could 'mercilessly hollow out' working class

Robots could put 15 million Britons out of work, the Bank of England Governor declared last night.
In an alarming vision for workers, Mark Carney warned many jobs would be ‘hollowed out’ as huge technological advances meant roles could be automated instead.

The Bank has said the march of the machines in the workplace puts administrative, clerical and production staff most under threat.

Mr Carney claimed that ‘up to 15 million of the current jobs in Britain’ – almost half of the 31.8million workforce – could be replaced by robots over the coming years as livelihoods were ‘mercilessly destroyed’ by the technological revolution.

Reductio ad SSPX

Let us suppose for a moment that the Sedevacantists are right. The chair of Peter has, by some form of apostasy or other, been vacant for a significant time now. In fact, the exact date and cause doesn't even matter in this line of reasoning. Even if you just suppose that the current claimant to the throne of Peter, one Jorge Bergoglio, has no such rightful claim in any form, actual or potential, the foregoing argument still holds on a carry-forward basis.

Now, if this is true, what are our actual obligations as faithful Catholics? Why, we are to find the highest remaining authority in the Church that has not gone along with the apostasy that led to this vacancy in the seat of Peter and follow that man. We have not always been promised a pope. Our Lady warned us when she appeared at La Salette that "Rome will lose faith and become the seat of the Antichrist." We do not have popes during the time between the death of one and the election of another; this is the origin of the term sedevacante. While it is an obligation for us to hold that the supreme earthly authority and rightful exercise of power in the Church belongs to the successor to Saint Peter, in absence of such a one, the hierarchical structure of the Church, by its very nature, does not break down. There may be limits on what can be done in absence of a pope, but God's authority still remains in the Church, who still possesses the keys which our Lord gave to Saint Peter and against which our Lord promised the gates of Hell shall never prevail.

Viewed in this light, it is somewhat silly the amount of ink that has been spilt by traditional Catholics over the issue of sedevacantism. It is disordered in light of the real issue, identified over and over by Our Lady, apostasy. And in any event, while the philosophical truth of the matter is indeed important, the practical outcome can easily remain the same. Even if you adopt the sedevacantist position, it would seem to make the most sense to follow the Society of Saint Pius X, as founded by the highest ranking Church authority that openly opposed the current apostasy who in keeping with the rules set by previous legitimate papal authority created an institution that unimpeachably carries the apostolic succession forward.

Briefly, let us spend a moment dismissing the claims that the Society, despite by all outward appearances keeping the faith, somehow at one time or another found itself infiltrated by a mason or two rendering its effort in all or part void. As Church scholars have argued, since there is no way for earthly creatures to ascertain the intention of another such creature, mere objective participation in the rites of the Church, as they have been lawfully codified and always been celebrated, is enough to assume the proper intention. This is clearly the case, or the enemies of the Church would have never endeavored to alter the rites of the Church. Satan, ever the most cunning of God's creatures, would have seen all the more fit to leave the old rites in place and merely infiltrate the Church with men who would withhold their intention in performance of the old rites. No! - no! - no!!! This was not an avenue for undermining the Church. There is something inherent, objectively true in the traditional rites of the mass that demonstrate integrity between action and thought. There are some actions you cannot perform without making an admission of their own truth. We know this even from simple, secular forms of study, such as economics. "Man acts," and to endeavor to disprove the truth of this statement would itself be an action, thereby proving its truth. It is impossible to participate in the traditional rites, without admitting their truth. This is not the same of the new rites of the mass, and the very reason the enemies of Christ saw fit to implement them.

It's Afternoon Again in America

Far from a Reagan redux, the premature high-fiving within the alt-right while Trump already signals to 'conserve' certain portions of Obamacare and begins a rapprochement with the remaining and former political establishment, along with the far-worse cultural and fiscal situation in which we find ourselves should give pause to those who think the forces of truth and justice are firmly in power again. Trump has more to undo than any of his conservative predecessors ever did. And mere tax-cuts, while a step in the right direction, along with huge infrastructure and defense contracts handed out to the existing cohort of crony-capitalists, which may lead to job creation in the short-run, do not undo the institutional arrangements which have placed our country in these dire straits pre-Trump and would lead us back to our current predicament the minute the establishment gets its grimy hands back into the White House. We will need to see a much more forceful, structural cleaning-of-house if the Trump administration represents a true morning in America versus only a stay in her execution.

Yes, Trump's seemingly instant post-election friendly relations with the likes of Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton may only be a superficial strategy gauged to see how much of his real agenda he can push through using the facade of the establishment. Yet power corrupts and hobnobbing with the very criminals we have worked so vociferously to oppose is fraught with danger. Those of us most optimistic about the possibilities under a Trump administration must be the most vocal about the dangers of going off-rail.

With his election success, the media and establishment politicians are at their very weakest now. An emboldened strategy of finishing off the worst elements in these two, empowering at the peak of our momentum we who stand ready to replace them, is the best course forward in these trying times. It will be a tragic irony if Trump uses this moment to befriend those who are most assuredly to undermine him later. We must keep our wits about us in victory most especially. Let us hope the rapprochement lasts for one week and not a minute longer.

Those of us aware of the real structural problems within the United States, the cultural-deterioration which is unlikely to be fully reversed, the fractional-reserve banking system, the satanic elite's dehumanizing cashless economic plans must use this reprieve to strengthen our independent means of support in building farms, homesteads, independent businesses, redoubts, churches and small, informal communities, rather than blindly trusting the Trump administration and returning to a consumerist mind-set. Trump may end up being everything we hope for, he may over-confidently stumble at first and wake up to the full realities of Washington later, or he may represent only a temporary return to the better side of a Keynesian economic boom that will lead us right back to the elite's plans as soon as he leaves office. Regardless, it remains our job to continue to rebuild true civilization.

What realistically should the Trump administration look like? Using precedence within the American system, now seems time for an updated and renewed Jacksonian democracy (full credit to Wikipedia):
Also known as the spoils system, patronage was the policy of placing political supporters into appointed offices. Many Jacksonians held the view that rotating political appointees in and out of office was not only the right but also the duty of winners in political contests. Patronage was theorized to be good because it would encourage political participation by the common man and because it would make a politician more accountable for poor government service by his appointees. Jacksonians also held that long tenure in the civil service was corrupting, so civil servants should be rotated out of office at regular intervals.
Strict Constructionism
Like the Jeffersonians who strongly believed in the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions, Jacksonians ...favored a federal government of limited powers. Jackson said that he would guard against "all encroachments upon the legitimate sphere of State sovereignty."
Laissez-faire Economics
Complementing a strict construction of the Constitution, the Jacksonians generally favored a hands-off approach to the economy, as opposed to the Whig program sponsoring modernization, railroads, banking, and economic growth.[12][13]
In particular, the Jacksonians opposed government-granted monopolies to banks, especially the national bank, a central bank known as the Second Bank of the United States. Jackson said, "The bank is trying to kill me, but I will kill it!" And he did so.[16]  Jackson himself was opposed to all banks because he believed they were devices to cheat common people; he and many followers believed that only gold and silver should be used to back currency, rather than the integrity of a bank.

The Not So Pope St. Pius X Parish

Yes, we shall hold fast to the words of Pope St. Pius X, even if his incisive teachings are under attack by the new, so-called "pastor" of the eponymous church in San Antonio, Texas. We, by the grace of God alone, found ourselves at the Tridentine mass said at 12:10pm on Sunday, July 3rd during which this wolf in sheep's clothing - or perhaps he is just a wolf - was invited to introduce himself by way of sermon during what is otherwise by its very nature a solemn ceremony, said by another priest (I do indeed hesitate to say, as ostensibly was the case, "another" priest). However, the sermon (no, it is not really a sermon; 'introduction,' let us say; or maybe even 'initiation') provided was perhaps the clearest espousal of the heresy of modernism we have ever heard during any mass, and we were most especially aghast to sit through such a verbal assault during a mass sought out particularly to avoid such charlatans in the first place.

Our verbal beating  included such assertions as "Latin is just another language," there is no qualitative difference between the old rite and the new, we'll get along just fine because I'm used to saying mass in other different languages like "German and Spanish," 'there is nothing special about the Tridentine mass,' and 'at first I thought homeschooling was weird until my sister who has a 6000 square foot home did it.' No, apparently the size of his sister's house is not an irrelevant detail. After insulting the very reason we were gathered in that building at that time in the middle of the very ceremony he was disparaging (I'm not sure I can even express fully the true amount of gall involved.) we were told that he wants to be "our pastor," 'a pastor of the people,'  I'm totally open to what you have to say and your needs and desires *smile* - Oh! - and hey, look at this guy, you know how hard he's been working, doesn't he deserve a round of applause? [cue guy in the audience].

If that isn't the biggest pile of passive-aggressive nonsense we have ever heard in the middle of a Tridentine mass, we don't know what is.

Certainly, those that attend the Tridentine mass at St. Pius X parish in San Antonio, Texas are in our prayers.

A Proposal For An Independent Texas

Originally penned on April 11, 2008:

The point here is to fan the flames of Texan nationalism.

Texas finds itself precisely in the middle of the trends that will culminate during and define the current century (2000s) in North America. The origin and progress of these trends, demographic, ideological, governmental, cultural and otherwise, are already clearly evident.

Abroad, America’s power is waning. While still visibly the most powerful military power, America’s influence has declined over the past decades, as America continues to define its interests singularly, that is, without consideration of the reactions of other foreign powers. While ideally a foreign policy should always be crafted firstly to address the needs of the nation in question, this ideal presumes that the nation in question is concerned primarily with maintaining its existence as is and is not interested in imperial expansion. If a country embarks upon building an empire, or in this politically correct age, “being the policeman of the world,” – an unwise path to embark upon – it may find itself unopposed until it has squandered its goodwill. Thus, America will find itself increasingly in need of proving that its superpower status remains and increasingly having to resort to exercising military action in order to do so. This need will increase faster as goodwill continues to decline. This is the path all empires face, and they eventually pay for their military conquests with, among other things, a devaluation of their currency.

Domestically, then, America faces important and growing economic constraints. A rapidly devaluing currency can spell the end of a great empire; however, the longer this devaluation can be papered over by other gains or somehow postponed, the longer the empire can persist in existence. The dollar’s status as the international reserve currency has forced, to a certain extent, our inflation into the hands of foreigners; they are beginning to refuse dollars for this very reason. As prices rise due to inflation and as our ability to purchase goods oversees declines due to foreign refusals of the dollar, another so-called “crisis,” that of our open borders, will come even more into the forefront. A certain amount of immigration is always healthy, morally right and economically necessary. Economic incentives distorted as they are by our government, it makes it difficult to see what this “normal” amount of immigration should be. There are cultural factors as well (these are also not entirely separable from government action). America, a nation very much enamored with sex, but unable to accept the obvious and logical consequences of that act, has turned towards abortion, birth control, and smaller families. One of the primary factors that effects economic growth being the amount of labor available, the increasing amounts of economic growth necessary to paper over losses due to inflation will require an ever increasing influx of citizens to the United States. The stale, progressive-liberal-interventionist culture of America will slowly, and necessarily from an evolutionary perspective, be overcome by the more conservative, Catholic, and family centered culture that already pours forth across our Southern border. America's artificial economic needs will only hurry this trend.

As this flood of immigration continues, it will only aid in justifying another attempt at papering-over our inflation-related economic losses, the combination of America, Canada and Mexico into the so-called “North American Union.” There is already speculation that if the dollar continues to drop in value precipitously and if important Canadian business interests find it not in their interest to put up with the continued fluctuations in the value of their currency vis-à-vis the dollar, a North American monetary union – modeled on the European Monetary Union – may gain favor as a way to “stabilize” our failing dollar. Along with Mexico, such a monetary union with Canada will bring two large economies fully into the American sphere of influence, allowing us to mortgage yet two more nations’ futures along with our own as we continue to print dollars to pay for our military interventions. The Western liberal-progressive consensus since World War II has indeed had as its aim a world government (think “we are citizens of the world” mentality), and the union of entire continents is the first logical step in the movement towards such a world state. This is the ideological background to the more concrete problems which exist that will incentivize a move towards a North American Union.

Instead of allowing the continuing erosion of the Texan identity and of Texan sovereignty and the rights of Texans, as the nation we entered ponders a move towards its own entrance into a greater continental union, Texas can solve more effectively the same problems the U.S. intends to solve through continental union by reclaiming its independence.

Texas, at least to my knowledge, holds a distinct station as a nation whose founding fathers included a large number of typical White, Protestant Americans, but also more than a token number of Hispanic, Catholics. The latter group included Lorenzo de Zavala, José Antonio Navarro, Juan Seguín, and José Francisco Ruiz. An encyclopedic indication of the cooperation between these two groups in the creation of Texas and against the tyranny of the Mexican central government can be found here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tejano and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_the_Rio_Grande.

Everyone would do well to remember some of the violations of the fundamental rights of the American immigrants to Mexican Texas, e.g., forcing them to convert to Catholicism. Many are quick to forget that the same hurdles faced by immigrants from south of the border today, i.e., restrictions on allowing their relatives to join them in their new country and a feeling that the powers that be do not properly represent the immigrant, were also faced by the American immigrant in Mexican Texas.

My intention here is not to justify either the previous actions of the Mexican government against “Anglo” settlers or to justify the more recent actions of the U.S. government against “Hispanic” settlers. My intention is to provide a resolution.

Anglo culture, religion and language were unduly suppressed by the Mexican government of Texas during the colonial era. Hispanic culture, religion and language have also been unduly suppressed by the American government of Texas at times since Texas joined the union. American settlers in Mexican Texas persevered with their grievances until Santa Anna declared himself dictator. These settlers are admittedly much more patient than I. Texas, in my opinion, should move now to pre-empt the current slow move of Washington towards ever greater exercise of its imperial powers. If we cannot move now, when and if martial law is ever declared by an American president, our experience under American rule will have become no better than our experience under Mexican rule. It is then time to reject both!

Recognizing this historical experience, then, I propose the founding of the Second Republic of Texas, in which we recognize the coequal importance of both our Anglo-American heritage and our Hispanic-Mexican heritage. Our American heritage was the original impetus behind and helped us preserve the Texan focus on individual freedom, gun rights, and a free economy. Our Spanish heritage has helped Texas maintain a more family-centered culture, helped insulate us from the stale liberal-progressive tendencies that now permeate many parts of the United States, and given Texas its unique cultural institutions, like the cowboy, the county judge (alcalde), our food, our historic cities, and so much more.

Again, Texas rejected the rule of the Mexican government. We then gave U.S rule a try. Both have, in my opinion, failed (or will fail soon). Texas can make it on its own. We do not need to rejoin the economic backwardness of Mexico, nor do we need to labor to support an empire that is not our own and that we joined voluntarily.

And we must pay more than lip-service to the idea that our two heritages are coequal. I propose that the Second Republic make both Spanish and English its official languages, i.e., the languages in which government business is conducted.

An independent Texas, especially one that recognizes its dependence on both sides of its cultural heritage, can easily meet the challenges to which the imperial U.S. is likely to succumb. The Second Republic will not face an amount of military expenditures proportional to the amount currently spent under U.S. domination. In other words, with no needed worldwide military presence, Texas will not face the currency crisis which the U.S. faces. The currency of Texas will be stable, and will likely even increase in value in relation to a falling dollar. This will preclude the need for Texans to move into a North American monetary union. In fact, if America, Canada and Mexico proceed to such a union anyway, as Switzerland pokes a hole right through the heart of the European Union, Texas can be the lone ‘no’ vote to a North American Union. That’ll give the phrase, “Lone Star State,” a whole new meaning.

A Texas Republic that recognizes the importance of its dual heritage will find itself very comfortable amongst the demographic trends likely to overwhelm the United States in the coming century. As mentioned previously, a stale, imperial America has brought upon itself the need for massive immigration, for both economic and cultural reasons. While this will likely lead to increasing conflict and racial tensions in places like California, Texas’ special place as a nation co-founded by the two cultures in question can be parlayed to provide us with both greater cultural and social stability relative to the U.S. and greater economic growth in terms of a healthy rate of immigration not perversely effected by government-created economic imbalances.

To further pre-empt the need for continental union, free trade with all nations can and should be mandated by the Texas constitution. Not only because economics has long ago proved that free trade increases standards of living, but also because free trade stands behind that more nefarious trend known as “globalization.” The bounty of free trade is being corralled by liberal-progressive-interventionists to incentivize greater political unions. If Texas makes its free trade status permanent, the need for SPP (Security and Prosperity Partnership) and WTO type organizations, along with NAFTA, CAFTA, and other like treaties will evaporate. The Constitution of the Second Republic of Texas can become a pre-emptive strike against such internationalism, enshrining the ideal of free trade inviolably in our to-be-nation’s highest law. Like the Confederate States of America before us, who suffered under the tariffs imposed by the Northern States, Texas can prohibit any trade protectionism whatsoever. And again like the Confederacy, whose agricultural products depended heavily on free export markets, Texas is a significant exporter, exporting more than all of the other forty-nine states (see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas#Economy). If free trade, already very much in our economic interest, is mandated by our Constitution, the integration of the Republic of Texas with other pre-existing nations loses its justification: “But trade is already free in Texas.”

There’s also the small issue of what the folks in D.C. are likely to think of these plans. If the pseudo-Texan, born in New England (might as well be Canada) [and, under my plan, former] Decider decides that he would like his “rogue province” back, Texas has four words for him:
“Come And Take It.”
La Reconquista, Texas-style

When Texas joined the Union, it surrendered a large portion of its western territory in exchange for the Federal government’s subsuming of its (Texas’) national debt. In exchange for Texas now re-assuming its share of the United States’ current national deficit, Texas should demand the return of our western territory. While some libertarians and/or conservatives may look upon this, prima facie, as an action that violates the state rights, essential sovereignty and right of secession and self-determination of these other states, I will present a more historically nuanced counter-argument.

Indeed, as a general rule I accept the right of all jurisdictions to secede and self-determine their form of government. Specifically, in the context of U.S. history I unconditionally recognize the right of the original thirteen colonies, the Southern states, and all states formed prior to the so-called “Civil War” to secede. The Civil War having decided from the federal perspective against secession, the formation of [U.S.] states, which previously had proceeded under the assumption that the state to be created was itself essentially and ultimately a sovereign entity, has since that war proceeded under the assumption that the states themselves are ultimately creations and creatures of the Federal government. Texas, having a definite and sovereign existence prior to both its entrance into the Union and the final decision of the matter of secession after the Civil War, retains from my perspective its total and complete sovereignty and right to secede and self-determine in a form commensurate with its original extent. In other words, the Federal government had no right to establish what it considered to be artificial entities (i.e., Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Oklahoma) out of what was and is the fully sovereign land belonging to Texas.

Oh, and someone should ask our old friend Coahuila if they’d like to come along…

(As Always) A Special Thanks to Switzerland

The inspiration for my plan for Texas is taken primarily from Switzerland. Switzerland put in place and cemented with grand success the very combination of strategies I am suggesting for Texas. Switzerland reached the height of its imperial prowess during the 15th century, after which it suffered important setbacks in terms of its expansion. In response, the Swiss became satisfied with the extent of the land under their control; they transitioned from an acquisitive imperial state to the neutral nation we know today. Due to their foresight in knowing when the empire jig was up, so to speak, Switzerland did not face the decay that many empires face.

Switzerland, in the heart of Europe and in the middle of Germany, France, and Italy, did not have an ethnic identity of its own. To this day, the nation is divided rather distinctly into German, Italian and French parts. The national government communicates in three languages, German, French, and Italian. Yet, this small and seemingly disparate country survived essentially intact over 700 years, unscathed by, though in the midst of, two World Wars, that prominently pitted Frenchmen versus Germans. Its identity and ideology, that of a neutral, multi-ethnic constitutional democratic republic, has served to unify the country, keep it safe, and allow it almost unmatched prosperity until this very day.

God Bless the U.S.A. is a mere blessing by association; originally, God Blessed Texas.

Addendum One: Immigration (added 10/6/2008)

Having now a better recognition of the problems that the American settlers in Texas faced in terms of outright immigration restrictions and deportation (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_revolution ), seeing that the Mexican settlers in Texas of late encounter a nearly identical environment, and recognizing that the resolution to this problem lies both in equal treatment and freedom, it seems Texas, as an independent state, should also mandate free immigration. As long as there exists no welfare state, only those seeking jobs will immigrate to Texas. Free trade implies free immigration. And because free trade is a core tenet of the overall project of an independent Texas, free immigration is equally allowable under the recognition that free trade would allow the export of any job out of Texas; thus, Texas might as well retain the job and gain a worker than lose both.

Can a Modernist be Pope?

Although they express their astonishment that We should number them amongst the enemies of the Church, no one will be reasonably surprised that We should do so, if, leaving out of account the internal disposition of the soul, of which God alone is the Judge, he considers their tenets, their manner of speech, and their action. Nor indeed would he be wrong in regarding them as the most pernicious of all the adversaries of the Church. For, as We have said, they put into operation their designs for her undoing, not from without but from within. Hence, the danger is present almost in the very veins and heart of the Church, whose injury is the more certain from the very fact that their knowledge of her is more intimate. Moreover, they lay the ax not to the branches and shoots, but to the very root, that is, to the faith and its deepest fibers. And once having struck at this root of immortality, they proceed to diffuse poison through the whole tree, so that there is no part of Catholic truth which they leave untouched, none that they do not strive to corrupt. Further, none is more skillful, none more astute than they, in the employment of a thousand noxious devices; for they play the double part of rationalist and Catholic, and this so craftily that they easily lead the unwary into error; and as audacity is their chief characteristic, there is no conclusion of any kind from which they shrink or which they do not thrust forward with pertinacity and assurance. To this must be added the fact, which indeed is well calculated to deceive souls, that they lead a life of the greatest activity, of assiduous and ardent application to every branch of learning, and that they possess, as a rule, a reputation for irreproachable morality. Finally, there is the fact which is all but fatal to the hope of cure that their very doctrines have given such a bent to their minds, that they disdain all authority and brook no restraint; and relying upon a false conscience, they attempt to ascribe to a love of truth that which is in reality the result of pride and obstinacy.

Once indeed We had hopes of recalling them to a better mind, and to this end We first of all treated them with kindness as Our children, then with severity; and at last We have had recourse, though with great reluctance, to public reproof. It is known to you, Venerable Brethren, how unavailing have been Our efforts. For a moment they have bowed their head, only to lift it more arrogantly than before. If it were a matter which concerned them alone, We might perhaps have overlooked it; but the security of the Catholic name is at stake. Wherefore We must interrupt a silence which it would be criminal to prolong, that We may point out to the whole Church, as they really are, men who are badly disguised.

It is one of the cleverest devices of the Modernists (as they are commonly and rightly called) to present their doctrines without order and systematic arrangement, in a scattered and disjointed manner, so as to make it appear as if their minds were in doubt or hesitation, whereas in reality they are quite fixed and steadfast. For this reason it will be of advantage, Venerable Brethren, to bring their teachings together here into one group, and to point out their interconnection, and thus to pass to an examination of the sources of the errors, and to prescribe remedies for averting the evil results.

Who could read the preceding and not immediately call to mind the image of Francis?

Is Francis rightfully Pope?
